ASU again placed ahead of MIT and Stanford on the list, based on a survey of peers. ASU is ranked No. 1 in the nation - ahead of Michigan State, Penn State and MIT nationally - and top 10 in the world four years in a row in 2023 by Times Higher Education for advancing the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Scoring a perfect 100/100, the Thunderbird School of Global Management is ranked No. 1 in the world for international trade by the QS International Trade Rankings, ahead of Cambridge, Stanford and Harvard. The Broadcast Education Association awarded the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication two top overall awards in news, ahead of Syracuse, University of Florida and USC. The Cronkite School also ranked first in four first-place finishes, with a total of 31 awards in news, sports, feature stories, weathercast and multimedia. Read more.

Students in ASU's Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication placed third overall in the prestigious Hearst Journalism Awards along with UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of Florida, and scored in the top five in writing, photojournalism and television categories. ASU ranks No. 62 for best university in the U.S., according to the QS World University Rankings: USA 2021. Moving up nearly 30 spots from last year's position, ASU also ranks No. 1 in the state, ahead of both Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona. Arizona State University, a leader in educating the next generation in engineering and science, ranks fourth in the U.S. for undergraduate degrees in STEM-related fields. In the U.S. News & World Report's 2023–24 graduate rankings, ASU's local government management graduate program ranks No. 3 in the country and No. 1 in the Pac-12, ahead of Syracuse University and USC. ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law is among the nation's top 12 public university graduate schools and is the highest-ranking law school in Arizona according to an annual survey by U.S. News & World Report. The college tops George Washington University, University of California-Irvine and Emory University, among others.

W. P. Carey School of Business ranks No. 6 in Poets & Quants and Inc. Magazine's 2023 rankings of MBA entrepreneurship programs worldwide. Climbing 11 spots, ASU ranks ahead of University of Chicago, Northwestern and University of Pennsylvania. Measuring 16 categories, the ranking emphasizes the percentage of MBA students launching businesses and MBA courses focused on entrepreneurship and/or innovation. Learn more.

Arizona State University ranks top 10 among U.S. universities granted U.S. utility patents in the top 100 rankings by the National Academy of Inventors and the Intellectual Property Owners Association. In 2022, along with MIT, Stanford and Harvard, ASU places in the top 10 among U.S. universities for the fifth consecutive time. Read more.

ASU once again ranks No. 6 nationally for research expenditures among universities without a medical school, according to the National Science Foundation Higher Education Research and Development Survey. The university reports $677.3 million in research expenditures in 2021, ahead of University of Chicago, Princeton and Caltech. Read more.

Sun Devil Athletics has matched its all-time high of 92% GSR for its student-athletes, announced by the NCAA. SDA has either maintained or surpassed its all-time best GSR every year since 2008. In addition, eight teams posted GSR scores at 100%: men's basketball, women's basketball, women's golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, women's swimming and diving, and women's tennis and triathlon. ASU's School of Earth and Space Exploration ranks No. 12 by U.S. News & World Report among graduate schools for earth sciences, ahead of Yale, Cornell, Rice, Virginia Tech and Ohio State, among others. For earth sciences specialities, ASU ranked No. 3 for geochemistry and No. 5 for geology, ahead of UC Berkeley, MIT and Stanford in both categories; No. 5 for environmental sciences; and No. 17 for geophysics. ASU's Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps, also known as ROTC, is recognized as one of the top eight programs of its kind nationwide with the 2021 General Douglas MacArthur Award. Chosen out of 274, the program known as the Sun Devil Battalion was selected for a combination of achievement in commissioning mission, cadets' performance during Cadet Summer Training and retention rates. The list was created through a survey tool in collaboration with an international community of educators, administrators, students and maker leaders. ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College is No. 12 in U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings of America’s best graduate education programs. Among public universities, the college placed at No. 5, ahead of UC Berkeley, the University of Texas-Austin and the University of Virginia, solidifying ASU as a top-tier college for a master's degree in education since 2012. The annual QS World University Rankings recognizes ASU as a top 10 university in the world for the quality of meaningful connections between potential employers and students — ahead of Princeton, MIT and Stanford, and others. ASU also earns the No. 17 ranking for the excellence of its partnerships with employers — ahead of Cornell, UCLA, Princeton and Harvard.

ASU is named to the top 100 in the world for academic reputation by Times Higher Education. The ranking is based on the world's largest invitation-only academic opinion survey, which uses United Nations data as a guide to ensure that the results are representative of world scholarship, and targets only experienced, published scholars. For the past seven years, ASU has been a top producer of Teach for America corps members — a trend that continued in 2022 with ASU coming in at No. 2 in the country among large universities, along with UC Berkeley, Michigan and USC. ASU ranks in the top 10 in the U.S. for higher education R&D expenditures financed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. ASU is ranked ahead of UC Berkeley, UCLA and MIT in NASA-funded expenditures. Read more.

The Princeton Review ranks ASU a top U.S. university for undergraduate education in its "The Best 388 Colleges 2023" based on a survey of more than 160,000 students. Students praised the university for "innovation," the ability to “personalize every student’s experience,” "endless ... opportunities for success" and "diversity" of the student body. Read more.

ASU ranks in the top 10 among universities without a medical school for patents, startups, inventions and licenses by the Association of University Technology Managers. ASU is one of only four universities, including Caltech, MIT and North Carolina State, ranked top 10 for all of the following categories: U.S. patents issued (No. 3), startups launched (No. 2), inventions disclosed (No. 5) and licenses and options (No. 7).

ASU joins the top 20 overall ranked by the National Science Foundation Survey of Earned Doctorates, ahead of Yale, Johns Hopkins and Duke.The SED is based on the number and characteristics of individuals receiving research doctoral degrees in the academic year 2020–21 from U.S. academic institutions. For the second time, ASU has earned the Seal of Excelencia from the Washington, D.C.-based organization Excelencia in Education for its high level of commitment and effort to serve Latino students. ASU earns the "Education Partner of the Year" award from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, recognizing the university's efforts to help more Hispanic students attend and graduate from college. ASU's undergraduate Hispanic student enrollment has grown 29% over the past six years. ASU ranks in the nation's top 25 public schools by Washington Monthly's 2022 National University Rankings, ahead of Ohio State, Purdue and University of Texas-Austin. The ranking recognizes colleges' contribution to the public good in three categories: social mobility, research and promoting public service. The metrics used by the ranking align with the ASU Charter which promotes "assuming responsibilities for the communities it serves" and design aspirations such as social embeddedness.

ASU earned a bronze award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science's SEA (STEM Equity Achievement) Change initiative. One of only five universities given this distinction, ASU leads the way in advancing STEM equity and inclusion for underrepresented students, faculty and staff. Learn more.

W. P. Carey School of Business ranks No. 17 in Poets & Quants and Inc. Magazine's 2022 rankings of MBA entrepreneurship programs worldwide. The ranking measures each MBA program on 10 categories, including elective entrepreneurship courses, the number of alumni who launch businesses and the number of students in entrepreneurship clubs. Read more.

ASU is recognized worldwide by the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in six subject areas that rank in the top 25. The rankings include management, public administration, environmental science and engineering, business administration, economics and education. ASU ranks No. 13 in the U.S. and No. 34 worldwide by the GEURS survey of employers, ranking ahead of Johns Hopkins, Georgia Tech and UCLA. GEURS rates the 就业能力 performance based on the following key 就业能力 drivers: graduate skills, specialization, academic excellence, focus on work expertise, digital performance and internationality. ASU makes the Fiske Guide to Colleges’ list of top 10 “Best Buy” public universities for quality in relation to cost and student debt. ASU is the only Arizona university selected for the top 10 Best Buy list and shares the accolade with other top public schools, including the University of Florida, Purdue University and the University of Washington. 

TIME Magazine has named ASU President Michael M. Crow one of the 10 best college presidents in the U.S. Crow has focused the vision and goals of ASU — as a New American University — on academic excellence, broad access to all qualified students and meaningful community impact. Read more.

President Crow is selected as one of the Top 50 World's Greatest Leaders by Fortune magazine. The list recognizes global leaders in business, government, philanthropy and the arts who are "transforming the world and inspiring others to do the same." Read more.

ASU ranks No. 2 on the EPA’s Green Power Partnership Top 30 College & University Partners listing. Seventy-eight percent of ASU’s total electricity use is green power, helping to reduce the effects of air pollution and emissions caused by conventional electricity use while supporting the development of clean energy resources. Times Higher Education recognizes ASU as one of only two universities in the U.S. — and one of 43 globally — to achieve net zero emissions. The ranking appears in THE’s new data-led report on higher education’s climate-neutral commitments, The Race to Net Zero, which shows how universities worldwide are lowering their greenhouse gas emissions to achieve net zero. Washington Monthly has recognized ASU President Michael M. Crow as one of the most innovative college presidents for his tangible impact on thousands of students’ lives. The publication praises President Crow for raising graduation rates and enrolling a significant number of students from below the poverty line. Read more.

For the third year in a row, more than 60,000 employers and partners from the Global University Central Career Union and Lockin selected ASU, along with Northwestern University, University of Pennsylvania and University of Chicago, as a recipient of its Exclusive Global Employer's Choice Award. The award recognizes outstanding career development support for overseas students.

Recognizing ASU for “improving teaching and learning, producing research that makes a difference in communities and revitalizing its civic and academic mission," the Carnegie Foundation bestows its "Community Engagement" classification on the university through 2025. Read more.

Crow one of the 25 “Most Innovative and Practical Thinkers of our Time” for his efforts to reshape the American public university, combining inventiveness with practicality. The article explores Crow’s ideas about how universities can better connect with the real world. Read more.

Newsweek identified ASU as one of America's Greatest Places to Work for Diversity 2023. The ranking is based on a pre-survey of HR professionals followed by an employee survey and an independent study of more than 350,000 company reviews. Survey participants responded to questions about corporate culture, working environment and other topics about their companies and others they were acquainted with.

ASU's Thunderbird School of Global Management offers the world's No. 1 specialized Master of Global Management degree program. The 2019 Times Higher Education/Wall Street Journal report surveyed 114 ranked business schools from 24 countries; Thunderbird was the only U.S.-based school to rank in the top 5 Master in Management specialty.
